Alejandra van der Velden

Born in Argentina of Dutch descent, Alejandra van der Velden was artistically educated at the art academies of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Neerpelt (Belgium). Her trademark is the use of vibrant colours in her paintings; she is fascinated by the techniques of the French impressionists and the use of light by the old masters. With an optimistic mindset she is full of ambition and ideas; her talent allows her to develop herself artistically, becoming an artist with her own style and signature. She sometimes applies 3D effects making the public interact with her paintings. Her work is figurative with a subtle touch of symbolisme.

The subjects of her paintings vary from flowers, landscapes, city scenes to people. She also makes portraits and decorates objects in commission.

She participates on a regular basis in art fairs in the Netherlands and abroad, not only with her paintings but also with objects as decorated teakwood bowls.

Presently a selection of her paintings are part of a travelling exhibition in renowned hotel chains throughout Western Europe (Hilton, Scandia), Hotel Pulitzer and Brooklyn Hotel in Amsterdam. Her most recent international exhibition was The Illusion of Reality, Galleria de Marchi, Bologna (Italy) in December 2014. In April of 2016 she was a guest of Hermitage Amsterdam Museum. A group of 40 international artists will be presenting their work. In June 2016 three of her paintings where on display at the Aviskar, 9th International Art Expo in Calcutta, India.

In October 2016 she was again a guest at ArtSquare in Den Haag (at the square of Willem II). A group of international artists will be presenting their work. For more information about the exhibitions in 2019 go to the colomns exhibition/news.
